Newborn Session Questions
- When should I contact to book a newborn session? – Because I only photograph a certain amount of newborns each year, I highly suggest contacting me to book a newborn session within the first 3-4 months that you find out you are pregnant.
- What should I bring to my newborn session? – I will actually send you a list! But, really the main things are a loose-fit outfit on baby (preferably something I will not have to remove over their head), extra diapers and wipes, a bottle of milk (if you are not breastfeeding,) a pacifier and an extra shirt for each parent for parent/baby photos – I do not recommend wearing you shirt to your session juuuust in case baby has an accident on you 😉
- I try to photograph all newborns within the first 14 days of life, because this is when they are sleepiest and easiest to pose 🙂 However, I do understand that sometimes babies may need to be photographed at a different age due to NICU stay and will accommodate this to the best of my ability.
- How do you schedule newborn sessions? – Once you book with me, I try to set a couple of tentative dates on my schedule, based off of your due date and then the possibility that baby could come sooner. If you find out you will be induced or have a c-section, please contact me with that date. Otherwise, I just ask that you contact me within the first two days that baby is born and we will set a definite date and time from there.
- When do you typically photograph newborns? – I almost always photograph newborns on a weekday. I also try to photograph midday. I usually begin somewhere around 11am-1pm, but not any later than that, for optimal lighting 🙂
- Do you photograph newborn lifestyle sessions? – Yes, a newborn lifestyle session though is focused more on the family with the newborn, photos of the newborn’s nursery and photos of baby un-posed in the nursery.
